The saturated vapor pressure tester is an important tool for studying the phase equilibrium characteristics of substances, and its measurement accuracy directly affects the reliability of scientific research and industrial production. To ensure data accuracy, it is necessary to eliminate instrument errors through systematic calibration. The following are the key calibration methods and implementation points:
1、 Absolute calibration based on standard reference materials
Select pure substances with known precise saturation vapor pressure temperature relationship (such as deionized water, anhydrous ethanol) as benchmarks, and construct standard curves for benchmarking. Replace the test sample with a standard substance, stabilize the system at a specific temperature point, and compare the difference between the instrument display value and the literature standard value. If there is a deviation, it can be corrected by adjusting the zero point or range factor of the pressure sensor. This method directly traces back to international standard data and is suitable for initial calibration of new instruments and verification after major repairs.
2、 Accurate calibration of temperature control system
Temperature fluctuations are the core factor affecting vapor pressure measurement. High precision platinum resistance thermometers (such as PT100) are used to synchronously monitor the temperature of the experimental system, and parallel comparisons are made with the built-in temperature measurement module of the instrument. Set multiple temperature points through a constant temperature water bath or precision temperature control device (such as every 5 ℃), record the difference between the instrument response value and the standard thermometer at different temperatures, and draw a temperature correction curve. Special attention should be paid to the temperature stability of the phase transition critical zone, and if necessary, the PID temperature control algorithm should be upgraded to improve the dynamic response speed.
3、 Step by step verification of pressure sensing unit
For the pressure measurement module, a graded loading method is used for linearity testing. By connecting an external high-precision digital pressure gauge, apply a stepped pressure from vacuum to full range to the measuring chamber, and record the correspondence between the instrument reading and the actual pressure. Focus on verifying the sensitivity of the low range segment (<1kPa) and the hysteresis effect of the high range segment, and use the least squares method to fit the pressure correction equation. For capacitive or piezoresistive sensors, it is also necessary to check the impact of power supply voltage fluctuations on the output signal.
4、 Sealing test of pneumatic system
Minor leakage can cause measurement distortion in the low-pressure section. After closing the injection valve, observe the natural decay rate of pressure in the closed state of the system. Ideally, the pressure drop per hour should be less than 0.1% of the range. Helium mass spectrometer leak detector can be used to locate small leaks at the interface, especially vulnerable parts such as valve shafts and flange gaskets. Regularly replace the PTFE sealing ring and strengthen the airtightness of the threaded connection with vacuum grease.
5、 Optimization of environmental interference compensation mechanism
External vibrations may cause capillary column oscillation, requiring the installation of a shock-absorbing platform and a buffer sleeve. Electromagnetic interference can affect the operation of electronic components, so they should be kept away from strong electromagnetic sources such as motors and transformers. If necessary, shielded cables should be used to connect signal lines. In terms of humidity control, place a color changing silicone indicator inside the dryer to ensure that the relative humidity of the measurement environment is below 30%, avoiding false readings caused by water vapor adsorption.
6、 Long term stability tracking calibration
Establish a periodic calibration system, conduct monthly single point rapid calibration, and perform full-scale multi-point calibration every quarter. Retain the raw data from previous calibrations and use statistical process control charts to monitor the trend of instrument status changes. When the detection result exceeds the allowable error range of ± 1%, immediately initiate the full process re calibration program to trace the root cause of the abnormality.
The calibration of the saturated vapor pressure tester needs to be combined with standard substance traceability, temperature and pressure dual parameter calibration, system sealing verification, and environmental interference control to form a closed-loop quality control system. Through multi-dimensional cross validation, the measurement accuracy of the instrument can be effectively improved.
