Method for determination of sulfur content in petroleum products

1. Method Overview

Combustion of petroleum products in a measuring device: Sulfides in the base history generate SO2. Excess sodium carbonate aqueous solution is used for absorption

Collect the generated SO2, titrate the remaining sodium carbonate with hydrochloric acid standard solution after reaction, and calculate the sulfur content in the sample based on the amount of hydrochloric acid standard solution consumed.

2. Instruments and reagents

⑴ Instruments

Sulfur content lamp method measuring device: sulfur content lamp method measuring device: meets the technical requirements of GB/T380, as shown in Figure 6-1, including suction filter bottle: 500 mL or 1000 mL; burette: 25 mL; suction tube: 2mL, 5 mL, and 10mL; bottle washing; Water flow pump or vacuum pump; Glass beads: diameter 5-6 mm; short glass rod 8-10 mm in length; Cotton yarn wick.

(2) Reagent

Sodium carbonate: analytical grade, prepared into a 0.3% aqueous solution of sodium carbonate; Hydrochloric acid: analytical grade, prepared as a 0.05 mol/L hydrochloric acid standard solution;

Indicator: 0.2% bromocresol green ethanol solution and 0.2% methyl red ethanol solution.
