CHEMGLASS was founded by Walter P. Surdam in 1946. Initially, it was a glass products trading company of Kimble Glass Limited in Vineland, serving as a supervisor during World War II. Walter P. Surdam then left the glass company and opened a store elsewhere, producing glass blowing products. Around 1980, Chemglass moved to a new industrial park.
