1Dust concentration detectorAbnormal or unstable measurement values
Q: Is the instrument measurement significantly higher or lower than the actual environment?
Possible reasons:
Sensor contamination (dust accumulation or moisture);
Calibration failure (prolonged lack of calibration);
The sampling port is blocked or the filter membrane is not replaced in a timely manner.
resolvent:
Clean the sensor or replace the filter membrane (refer to the instruction manual for operation);
Re calibrate the instrument (using a standard dust source or sending it to a professional organization for calibration);
Check if the sampling pipeline is unobstructed.
Q: Is the numerical fluctuation large and unable to display stably?
Possible reasons:
Environmental airflow interference (such as near fans and ventilation openings);
Insufficient preheating time of the instrument;
High humidity environment causes sensor abnormalities.
resolvent:
Move to a location without strong airflow interference for measurement;
Ensure to preheat for 1-2 minutes after turning on the device before use;
Use in low humidity environments or use moisture-proof instruments.
2、 Instrument operation malfunction
Q: Does it have no response or the screen doesn't light up when turned on?
Possible reasons:
The battery is fully discharged;
Poor power supply contact;
Motherboard malfunction.
resolvent:
Charging or replacing batteries;
Check if the charging interface is oxidized or loose;
Contact the manufacturer for repair.
Q: Data cannot be stored or exported?
Possible reasons:
Storage space is full;
USB/Bluetooth connection failure;
Software compatibility issues.
resolvent:
Delete some historical data or format storage;
Restart the instrument or replace the data cable;
Update instrument firmware or computer software.
3、 Alarm and functional abnormalities
Q: The instrument frequently alarms, but the actual dust concentration is not high?
Possible reasons:
The alarm threshold is set too low;
Sensor interference (such as oil mist, water vapor);
Instrument calibration offset.
resolvent:
Reset reasonable alarm thresholds;
Clean the sensor and avoid using it in non dust particle environments;
Re calibrate the instrument.
Q: Has the battery life significantly shortened?
Possible reasons:
Battery aging;
Long term high load operation (such as continuous measurement+data storage);
Low temperature environment affects battery performance.
resolvent:
Replace the original factory battery;
Reduce unnecessary function usage (such as turning off Bluetooth);
Use at a suitable temperature (10 ℃~40 ℃).
4、 Maintenance and calibration issues
Q: How often does the instrument need to be calibrated?
Suggestion:
Regular use: Calibrate every 6 months;
High intensity usage environment: calibrated every 3 months;
Calibration requires the use of standard substances or completion by professional organizations.
Q: How to clean the sensor?
Steps:
Turn off the instrument and remove the battery;
Use a soft bristled brush or compressed air to remove surface dust;
Gently wipe the optical sensor window with a cotton swab (only for models that support cleaning);
After drying, reassemble and use.
5、 Environmental adaptability
Q: Does the instrument measure inaccurately in high temperature/high humidity environments?
Reasons and Countermeasures:
High temperature (>50 ℃): may cause circuit overheating, it is recommended to use high-temperature resistant models or shorten the single measurement time;
High humidity (>90% RH): Water vapor may be mistakenly classified as dust particles and requires the use of moisture-proof instruments or the installation of drying tubes before sampling.
Q: Can PM2.5 or PM10 be detected?
Answer:
Depending on the instrument model, some dust meters have built-in particle size cutters that can distinguish between PM2.5/PM10;
If the instrument is not labeled, it needs to be used in conjunction with an external graded sampling head.
6、 Other precautions
Avoid the following operations:
Expose the instrument to a high concentration of dust environment for a long time (which may damage the sensor);
Disassemble core components (such as laser modules or beta ray sources) by oneself;
Use non original accessories (such as mismatched filter membranes or batteries).
Tip: If the problem cannot be solved, keep the environmental parameters (temperature, humidity, dust type, etc.) at the time of instrument failure and contact the manufacturer's technical support.
Through the above answers, most common problems with dust detectors can be quickly located. If further assistance is needed, it is recommended to consult the equipment manual or contact the supplier for professional support!
