Types and selection principles of standard reference materials for ore composition analysis
Date: 2025-12-18Read: 1
Standard Reference Materials for Mineral Composition AnalysisIt is an important tool for quality control, equipment calibration, verification methods, and ensuring comparability of results in ore composition analysis.
There are various types of standard materials for ore composition analysis, including but not limited to the following:
Metal ore standard materials: such as copper ore, lead ore, zinc ore, molybdenum ore, tungsten ore, etc.
Precious metal ore reference materials: such as gold ore, silver ore, etc.
Non metallic ore standard materials: such as phosphate ore, limestone, dolomite, fluorite, barite, etc.
Multi metallic ore standard materials: such as copper lead zinc ore, copper nickel cobalt ore, tungsten tin bismuth ore, etc.
Special purpose mineral reference materials: such as single mineral reference materials used for electron probe analysis, chemical phase reference materials used for phase analysis, etc.
Standard Reference Materials for Mineral Composition AnalysisSelection principle:
Ore type matching: Select corresponding standard materials based on the genesis (such as magmatic, sedimentary, hydrothermal) and mineral composition of the ore. For example, when analyzing copper nickel sulfide ores, copper nickel ore reference materials should be selected; When analyzing high silica gold deposits, siliceous gold standard materials should be selected.
Target element/component coverage: The standard substance should contain the element to be tested, and the content range should cover the expected value of the sample. For example, when detecting high-grade copper ore, standard materials with copper content within this range should be selected.
Reasonable content gradient: If a calibration curve needs to be drawn, it is recommended to choose at least 3 standard substances with content gradients (low, medium, and high concentrations) to ensure that the linear range covers the sample detection interval.
High accuracy of calibration: Priority is given to selecting standard materials that use multiple independent methods for calibration (such as weight method, capacity method, spectroscopy method) to ensure data reliability.
Good uniformity and stability: The minimum sampling amount and uniformity test results should be indicated in the standard substance certificate. At the same time, pay attention to the expiration date and storage conditions of standard substances, and re verify their stability after long-term storage.
