Briefly describe the countermeasures for common faults of 3D optical inspection instruments
Date: 2025-10-23Read: 0

In the fields of precision manufacturing, CNC machining, and tool grinding, 3D optical inspection instruments can quickly obtain key parameters such as tool contour, angle, and wear amount through non-contact and high-precision imaging technology. However, in practical use, complex optical systems and environmental factors often cause various problems, affecting measurement accuracy and efficiency. Mastering the strategies to deal with common faults of 3D optical inspection instruments is the key to ensuring their normal use.

Problem 1: Blurred image or unclear outline
This is a common imaging issue. First, check if the lens is contaminated with oil, dust, or residual cutting fluid, and gently wipe it with specialized lens paper and anhydrous ethanol. Secondly, confirm whether the lighting source is normal, whether the LED lights are aging or have uneven brightness, and adjust the angle of the light source or replace the light beads if necessary. If it still doesn't work, check if the objective magnification setting matches the current measurement requirements.
Problem 2: Poor measurement data fluctuation or repeatability
It may be due to equipment not being placed horizontally or vibration interference. Use a high-precision level to calibrate the instrument base, ensuring it is on a stable platform and away from the vibration source of the machine tool. At the same time, check if the tool clamping is secure, as slight shaking can cause image deviation. It is recommended to use standard fixtures and regularly clean the clamping surface.
Problem 3: Auto focus failure or slow focusing
Autofocus relies on clear contrast recognition. If the reflection on the surface of the tool is too strong or too dark, the system will have difficulty capturing the focus. The brightness of the circular light source can be adjusted, or diffuse reflective stickers can be used to reduce reflection. For deep holes or complex structures, it can be switched to manual focusing mode to gradually approach the appropriate focal plane.
Problem 4: The software cannot recognize the tool contour or reports an error
Check if the measurement program selects the correct tool type template. If the tool is severely worn or the edge is broken, the software may misjudge. You can try manually selecting the measurement area or adjusting the edge detection threshold. Ensure that the software version is up-to-date to avoid compatibility issues.
Problem 5: Large deviation in coordinate system calibration
Before measurement, standard components (such as calibration pins and gauges) must be calibrated. If the deviation persists, check if the standard parts are clean, installed properly, or if there is any mechanical deformation. Regularly inspect instruments to ensure the geometric accuracy of optical systems and mechanical structures.
