Key points for storing TOC catalyst

Key points for storing TOC catalyst
1、 Temperature control
TOC catalyst is sensitive to temperature, and an appropriate storage temperature is one of the key factors to ensure its stable performance. Generally speaking, catalysts should be stored in a cool environment, with an ideal temperature range typically between 15 ℃ and 25 ℃. Excessive temperature can accelerate the rate of chemical reactions inside the catalyst, which may cause structural changes in the active components, such as sintering and agglomeration of metal particles, thereby reducing the activity and selectivity of the catalyst. When the temperature is too low, certain components may undergo phase transition or crystallization, which can also affect the performance of the catalyst. Therefore, temperature regulating devices such as air conditioning should be equipped at the storage location to ensure that the temperature is always within the appropriate range, and temperature recorders should be checked regularly to prevent abnormal temperature fluctuations.
2、 Humidity management
Humidity is also an important factor affecting TOC catalysts. A humid environment can easily cause the catalyst to absorb moisture, leading to a series of problems. Moisture may interact with the active sites on the catalyst surface, occupying the active centers and reducing the efficiency of the catalytic reaction. In addition, under long-term high humidity conditions, catalysts may also undergo adverse reactions such as hydrolysis, leading to the destruction of their chemical structure. To prevent moisture from entering, catalysts should be stored in a dry and well ventilated warehouse, with a relative humidity preferably controlled between 40% and 60%. A hygrometer can be placed in the storage area for real-time monitoring, and devices such as dehumidifiers can be used to adjust the humidity. At the same time, it is necessary to ensure that the catalyst packaging is intact and undamaged. If any signs of damage are found in the packaging, it should be replaced in a timely manner or additional moisture-proof measures should be taken, such as adding desiccant packs.
3、 Avoid pollution
TOC catalysts are highly susceptible to various pollutants, which may come from dust, impurity gases, or volatile compounds of other chemicals in the air. Once pollutants are adsorbed on the surface of the catalyst, their pore structure will be blocked, reducing the effective contact area and seriously affecting the catalytic effect. Therefore, the space for storing catalysts must be kept clean and hygienic, away from sources of dust and harmful gas emissions. The warehouse should be equipped with air filtration devices to purify the air entering the room, removing particles and harmful components. In addition, it is best to store catalysts of different types or batches separately to prevent cross contamination. For catalysts that have been opened but not fully used, it is even more important to seal and store them to avoid prolonged exposure to air.
4、 Light protection
The active components in some TOC catalysts are sensitive to light, especially ultraviolet radiation, which may trigger photochemical reactions and alter the properties of the catalyst. Long term exposure to strong light can cause problems such as darkening of catalyst color and decreased activity. Based on this, catalysts should be stored in a dark place. Facilities such as blackout curtains and sun visors can be used to block window light, or they can be placed in opaque containers or cabinets. If it is impossible to avoid light exposure, the exposure time should be shortened as much as possible, and key areas should be partially covered and protected if necessary.
5、 Packaging requirements
Appropriate packaging can provide a good protective barrier for TOC catalysts during transportation and storage. The packaging material should have sufficient strength and toughness to prevent the breakage and loss of catalyst particles due to collision and compression. The commonly used packaging forms include plastic bags, aluminum foil bags, iron drums, etc. Among them, multi-layer composite structure packaging bags can effectively isolate the influence of external environmental factors. Each package should be clearly labeled with product name, specifications, production date, shelf life, and other information for easy identification and management. At the same time, it is necessary to follow the principle of first in, first out to arrange inventory turnover and ensure that the catalysts used are at their optimal efficiency within their validity period.
