The wind speed and direction measuring instrument measures air flow parameters through different technical principles
Date: 2025-08-14Read: 0
Wind speed and direction measuring instruments are mainly used to measure instantaneous wind speed and direction. They convert physical quantities into electrical signals through sensors, and then output data such as wind speed and direction after data processing. This type of instrument is widely used in meteorological monitoring, environmental protection, industry and other fields, providing important data support for climate change research, air quality assessment and industrial safety management.
It usually consists of a support rod, a wind vane, a wind cup, and a sensor. The wind direction is determined by pointing the wind vane, and the wind speed is calculated based on the speed of the wind cup.
The wind speed and direction measuring instrument mainly captures the speed and direction of air flow through sensing elements, converts physical signals into measurable electrical signals, and outputs the results through calculation or display modules:
Wind speed measurement: using the force (such as drag, lift) or kinetic energy changes generated by air flow on sensing elements to measure. For example, the rotational speed of the wind cup is directly proportional to the wind speed, and the resistance of the hot wire changes due to airflow heat dissipation. These signals can be converted into wind speed after processing.
Wind direction measurement: It is achieved by sensing the directionality of the wind direction through sensing elements, such as the wind direction indicator always pointing towards the direction of the wind, and its angle changes are converted into electrical signals through angle sensors (such as potentiometers and encoders) to determine the wind direction. ‌
core functionality
Real time monitoring: measures instantaneous wind speed (0-60 meters/second) and wind direction (0-360 degrees), supports wind speed unit switching and data recording and analysis. ‌
Multi domain applications:
Meteorological monitoring: provides basic data for meteorological forecasting and supports real-time curve tracking of wind speed and direction. ‌
Environmental protection field: Evaluate the diffusion trajectory of air pollutants and formulate environmental protection policies. ‌
Agriculture and Industry: Optimizing farmland management, industrial production safety management, and energy utilization.
