【 Conference News 】 Root Frontier Technology Seminar

The root system of crops provides essential water and nutrients for the growth of aboveground parts, and supports and fixes them. Improving the root system of crops can significantly enhance their stress resistance. So root system research has gradually become a hot topic and focus of current research, but also a difficult point. Compared to the research on aboveground parts, the study of crop root systems is relatively backward, which seriously restricts the development of related disciplines. The main reason is the lack of high-throughput methods and techniques for measuring crop roots. In recent years, there has been some progress in crop root measurement technology, especially the application of electromagnetic wave technology, which has greatly promoted the advancement of in-situ measurement technology. However, there is relatively little research conducted in this area in our country, the technology is relatively backward, and a stable scientific research force has not been formed.

In order to promote the development of related disciplines and provide an academic exchange platform for scientific researchers to understand new knowledge and new technologies in the forefront of science, Liu Xiuwei, a researcher from the Agricultural Resources Research Center of the Institute of Genetics and Developmental Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, initiated and organized the Root Frontier Technology Seminar to invite relevant domestic scientific researchers to exchange and discuss in the form of thematic seminars, aiming at updating professional knowledge, expanding knowledge fields and improving scientific and technological innovation ability.

At the seminar on cutting-edge root technology, our manager Wang Rong, based on our existing equipment and its application technology,Monitoring instruments for crop root systems、Research on root exudates、Monitoring of rhizosphere environment、Root hyperspectral imaging analysis、Plant physiological monitoringWe had in-depth exchanges and discussions with attending experts and scholars in various aspects.

As the main business field of our company, crop root monitoring instruments, including MS-190 in-situ plant root analyzer, have been purchased by many research institutes and universities such as East China Normal University, Hohai University, Guizhou University, Qinghai University, Inner Mongolia Agricultural University, Institute of Geographic Sciences and Resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc. The AS-18 fully automatic multispectral plant root analyzer, which is still in the research and development process, has attracted everyone's attention at the conference. Our company hopes to apply this technology to scientific research practice as soon as possible and cooperate with relevant domestic scientific research units to jointly promote the level of plant root research in China.
