Analysis of Zeiss 3D Scanning Technology: Technological Breakthrough from Optical Principles to Precision Measurement
Date: 2025-09-09Read: 2
Zeiss 3D scanning technology focuses on optical non-contact measurement and achieves technological breakthroughs from micrometer level accuracy to full scene coverage through the fusion of precision optical systems and algorithms. Its technological evolution can be divided into three stages: optical encoding, phase resolution, and intelligent processing.
In the optical encoding stage, Zeiss uses multi band blue light grating projection technology to project sine gratings with a period of hundreds of micrometers through high-performance LED light sources, covering the measured surface to form a structured light field. The innovation lies in the introduction of heterodyne encoding and a 12 step phase shift algorithm, which enables the grating to carry both spatial coordinates and depth information simultaneously, improving its ability to resist environmental light interference by 300%. For example, a scanner can capture 12 million data points in a single projection, with a point cloud density five times higher than traditional devices, making it particularly suitable for reconstructing the morphology of highly reflective metal surfaces such as automotive sheet metal.
The phase analysis process relies on dual telecentric lenses and floating optical components to eliminate perspective errors and radial distortions. The system calculates the phase difference of the grating through the principle of stereo vision, and combines the pre calibrated baseline distance and projection angle parameters to convert the phase value into three-dimensional coordinates. The introduction of GPU acceleration technology and IMU motion compensation algorithm enables data stability in dynamic scanning to reach 0.005mm level, even if the measured object moves at a speed of 2m/s, measurement continuity can still be maintained.
In the intelligent processing stage, Zeiss integrates AI point cloud optimization algorithm and multispectral separation technology to achieve sub-pixel level detail restoration. For example, when detecting the cooling channel of turbine blades, the system can synchronously collect RGB+infrared data to distinguish material defects from morphology errors, and the accuracy of defect recognition can be improved to 99.7%. With the GOMInspectPro software, users can complete the entire process of quality control from full surface deviation detection to GD&T form and position tolerance analysis, with a detection efficiency 80% higher than traditional coordinate measurement.
This technology has been widely applied in fields such as aerospace and new energy vehicles. After a certain engine manufacturer adopted the combined solution of Zeiss industrial CT and stripe projection scanning, the detection time of inclusions inside the turbine disk was shortened from 72 hours to 8 seconds, and the defect omission rate was reduced to 0.3%, promoting a 15% increase in the yield rate of the production line. From laboratories to intelligent production lines, Zeiss 3D scanning technology is deeply integrating optical accuracy with intelligent computing power, redefining the boundaries of industrial measurement possibilities.
