Maintenance points and common troubleshooting of surface roughness tester
Date: 2025-09-15Read: 0
In industries such as precision manufacturing and mechanical processing, surface roughness testers are like rigorous quality judges, accurately measuring the micro morphological characteristics of workpiece surfaces and providing key data support for product process optimization and quality control. It is crucial to ensure that this' referee 'always maintains impartiality and efficiency in performing their duties, mastering the correct maintenance techniques and quickly responding to unexpected malfunctions.
Daily cleaning is nurturingSurface roughness testerBasic homework. Before and after each use, gently wipe the instrument casing with a dust-free cloth to remove any attached dust particles and prevent them from infiltrating and affecting the performance of electronic components. As a key component that directly contacts the object being measured, the probe is prone to contamination with oil, debris, and other impurities, and requires extra care when cleaning. Special cleaning agents can be used to soak cotton swabs and gently scrub the surface of the probe to ensure unobstructed measurement contacts. For structural parts with guide rails or sliding tables, it is also necessary to regularly remove accumulated dirt to ensure smooth movement, just like cleaning the mud between gears for precision watches.
Calibration work is like injecting precise soul into an instrument. According to the manufacturer's recommended cycle, use standard sample blocks to conduct comprehensive calibration of the equipment. Place the standard parts with known roughness values on the testing platform, measure them according to the operating procedures, compare the displayed readings with the standard values, and if necessary, adjust the system parameters to make them consistent. This process is like a pianist tuning the notes accurately, ensuring that each note can be played accurately. At the same time, check the linearity of the sensor. If non-linear errors are found to exceed the allowable range, professional personnel should be contacted in a timely manner for maintenance and correction to avoid erroneous evaluation results due to signal distortion.
Lubrication and maintenance may seem subtle, but they are of great significance. The friction loss between moving parts cannot be ignored. Applying high-quality lubricating grease in moderation can effectively reduce the wear rate and extend the service life of the equipment. For example, at positions such as column lifting devices and workbench sliding tracks, a small amount of specialized lubricant is added at regular intervals to ensure smooth and silky operation of each component. But it is important to control the amount used, as excessive oil can easily adsorb more dust and cause new problems.
Even with careful maintenance, faults may still occur unexpectedly. A common type is abnormal fluctuations in data display. At this point, first investigate external environmental interference factors. Strong electromagnetic fields may disrupt the normal operation of the instrument. Move the equipment to a place far away from interference sources such as large motors and transformers and try again. If the problem still exists, it is necessary to check whether the connecting cables are loose or damaged, especially the data cable between the probe and the host. Re plugging and fixing the connector can often solve the problem.
Sometimes we may encounter situations where we cannot start. In addition to confirming that the power socket is supplying power normally, it is also necessary to check if the fuse is blown. Long term overload operation may cause the fuse protection to disconnect, replacing it with a new fuse of the same specification can restore its vitality. In addition, software crashes can also create similar illusions, and restarting the control system can usually rejuvenate the program.
When the repeatability of measurement deteriorates, it means that there is a significant difference in the results of multiple measurements of the same workpiece. This may be due to severe wear and tear of the probe, as prolonged and frequent use can cause the probe tip to become dull, like a worn pencil making it difficult to write fine lines. Timely replacement of new probe components can improve measurement consistency. It is also possible that the flatness of the workbench exceeds the tolerance, causing the workpiece to be placed unstably. It is necessary to use a spirit level to adjust the workbench to the ideal horizontal state.
We cannot be careless in the storage process. When not in use for a long time, the instrument should be placed in a dry and well ventilated environment to avoid humid air from corroding the circuit board and other metal parts. Put on a dust cover to create a relatively clean space and slow down the aging process.
As a precision measuring tool, the stable and reliable operation of the surface roughness tester relies on the user's meticulous daily maintenance and decisive and rapid fault handling ability. Only by carefully taking care of every detail can these "discerning eyes" continuously and clearly perceive the microscopic world on the surface of the workpiece, safeguarding the quality of the enterprise's products.
