Ultrasonic thickness gauges are widely used in product testing in many fields such as petroleum, chemical, metallurgical, aviation, etc. They are important regulators for safe operation and modern management of equipmentIt can be used to measure the thickness of various pipelines and pressure vessels in production equipment to detect the degree of corrosion and thinning after repeated use of the equipment. It can also measure the sound velocity of metals and other materials.
Ultrasonic thickness gauge is based on the principle of ultrasonic pulse reflection for thickness measurement. When the ultrasonic pulse emitted by the probe reaches the material interface through the measured object, the pulse is reflected back to the probe, and the thickness of the measured material is determined by measuring the propagation time of the ultrasonic wave in the material. Any material that can propagate ultrasonic waves at a constant speed inside can be measured using this principle.
The thickness gauge designed according to this principle can measure various plates and processed parts, as well as monitor various pipelines and pressure vessels in production equipment, monitoring their degree of thinning after corrosion during use.

What are the common measurement methods for ultrasonic thickness gauges? We have summarized the following types:
1、 General measurement methods
(1) At a certain point, use a probe to measure the thickness twice. In both measurements, the dividing surfaces of the probe should be 90 ° to each other, and the smaller value should be taken as the thickness value of the measured workpiece.
(2) 30mm multi-point measurement method: When the measurement value is unstable, multiple measurements are taken within a circle with a diameter of about 30mm centered on a measuring point, and the smaller value is taken as the thickness value of the measured workpiece.
2、 Grid measurement method
Draw a grid in the area and record thickness measurements at each point. This method is widely used in monitoring corrosion of high-voltage equipment and stainless steel lining.
3、 Measurement method
Increase the number of measurements around the designated measurement points, and represent thickness changes with contour lines.
4、 Continuous measurement method
Use single point measurement method to measure continuously along the route, with an interval of no more than 5mm.
Ultrasonic thickness gauges are not only capable of measuring the thickness of objects, but can also measure high-pressure equipment, stainless steel corrosion detection, pipelines, and ceramic concrete products. The advantages of ultrasonic waves are mainly accurate data and low time consumption. So, more and more customers are choosing ultrasonic thickness gauges!
