The total iron online analyzer is widely used in industrial circulating water, boiler feedwater, sewage treatment, and metallurgical process control. It monitors the total iron concentration in water in real time through colorimetric or electrochemical methods to prevent equipment corrosion, scaling, and water quality deterioration. Its operational stability is directly related to system safety and environmental compliance. However, in long-term use, problems such as reagent failure, pipeline blockage, optical path contamination, or calibration deviation often lead to data drift, slow response, and even false alarms. Scientifically identifying problems with the total iron online analyzer and taking targeted measures is the key to ensuring continuous and accurate monitoring.

1、 Continuous low measurement or no response
Reason: expired reagents, incomplete reactions, or interrupted sampling.
resolvent:
Check whether the color reagent, reducing agent and other reagents are within their expiration date (usually stored in the dark for 30-60 days), and replace them in a timely manner;
Confirm whether the peristaltic pump tube has aged and cracked, resulting in insufficient reagent/sample delivery;
Clean the sampling filter (recommended accuracy of 5-10 μ m) to prevent suspended solids from blocking the injection tube.
2、 Large fluctuations in readings or poor repeatability
Due to light path pollution or bubble interference:
After shutting down, rinse the colorimetric cell with anhydrous ethanol or specialized cleaning solution to remove attached iron precipitates or biofilms;
Check if the degassing device is working properly to prevent bubbles from entering the circulation pool and causing light scattering;
Ensure stable sample flow rate (usually 50-200mL/min) to avoid pulsation affecting absorbance readings.
3、 Severe zero or range drift
Typical examples include calibration failure or light source aging:
Perform automatic or manual calibration every 7-15 days, using standard iron solution (such as 1.0mg/L) to verify accuracy;
If the deviation is still greater than 10% after calibration, check the lifespan of the tungsten lamp or LED light source (usually ≥ 10000 hours) and replace it if necessary;
High temperature and high humidity environments can accelerate the aging of electronic components. It is recommended to install instrument protection boxes.
4、 Frequent alarms or communication interruptions
Possible sensor malfunction or signal interference:
Check if the 4-20mA output or Modbus communication line is well shielded to avoid parallel laying with power cables;
Check if the PLC or DCS system is receiving abnormal values (such as negative values, out of range), and determine if it is an AD module fault;
Regularly restart the analyzer to clear program cache errors.
