Laser level gauge is an instrument that uses laser technology to measure the height of liquid surfaces
Date: 2025-04-18Read: 18
Laser level gauge is a device used to measure liquid level, mainly by emitting a laser beam and receiving reflected light to determine the height of the liquid level. Its working principle is based on optical triangulation and pulse ranging principles. The laser level gauge emits a continuous or high-speed pulsed laser beam from a semiconductor laser. After the laser beam encounters the surface of the measured object and is reflected, the reflected light is received by a laser receiver. By accurately recording the time difference between laser self emission and reception, the distance between the laser radar and the measured object can be calculated, thereby determining the height of the liquid level.
The main application scenarios of laser level gauge include: water level monitoring of rivers, lakes and reservoirs in water conservancy and hydrological engineering; In municipal engineering, such as water level monitoring of tap water, urban rivers, and waterlogging (road waterlogging); In the industrial field, such as liquid level measurement of molten metals (aluminum water, copper liquid, etc.), high-temperature melting furnaces, and chemical reaction vessels. Its advantages include high precision (millimeter level), non-contact measurement (avoiding medium pollution or corrosion), adaptability to harsh environments (high temperature, high pressure, corrosive liquids), large range (up to tens of meters), and high system integration (supporting wireless transmission and remote monitoring).
working principle
Laser emission: The laser level gauge emits laser signals onto the surface of the liquid.
Reflection: The laser signal is reflected back from the surface of the liquid.
Time measurement: The instrument measures the time required for the laser signal to be emitted and received.
Distance calculation: Calculate the height of the liquid level based on the speed of light and reflection time.
advantage
Non contact measurement: avoids direct contact between liquid and sensor, suitable for high temperature, high pressure, and corrosive liquids.
High precision: capable of achieving high-precision liquid level measurement, typically with errors in millimeters.
Fast response speed: Almost real-time monitoring can be achieved, improving efficiency in the production process.
Easy to use: simple installation, relatively easy operation and maintenance.
