Operation guide for electromagnetic high-temperature thickness gauge: Ensure accurate and error free measurement
Date: 2025-04-14Read: 4

Electromagnetic high-temperature thickness gauge, as a high-tech tool in this field, is gradually becoming a standard tool in industrial production due to its non-contact measurement, high precision, and high stability characteristics. Today, we will delve into how to operate the electromagnetic high-temperature thickness gauge correctly to ensure millimeter level accuracy in every measurement.

1、 Get to know the instrument
The electromagnetic high-temperature thickness gauge utilizes advanced electromagnetic induction principles to indirectly obtain the thickness of the measured object by measuring changes in the magnetic field. Compared to traditional mechanical measuring tools or ultrasonic thickness gauges, it has higher accuracy and a wider range of applications, especially suitable for high temperature, high pressure, and corrosive environments.
2、 Preparation before operation
1. Choose a suitable thickness gauge: Select the appropriate instrument model based on the material being measured, thickness range, and factors such as temperature and humidity in the working environment.
2. Check the equipment status: Ensure that the appearance of the thickness gauge is undamaged, all components are securely connected, and the battery is fully charged (if it is rechargeable). For equipment that requires calibration, it should be calibrated according to the instructions to ensure measurement accuracy.
3. Understand the tested material: Familiarize yourself with the physical properties of the tested material, such as magnetic permeability, electrical conductivity, etc., which may affect the measurement results. At the same time, clean the surface being tested to remove impurities such as dust and oil to reduce measurement errors.
3、 Operation steps
1. Power on preheating: Turn on the device according to the instructions and wait for the device to preheat to a stable state. This step is crucial for ensuring measurement accuracy.
2. Parameter setting: Set appropriate measurement parameters based on the characteristics of the tested material and measurement requirements, such as measurement range, measurement frequency, etc. Some devices also support automatic recognition of the type of material being tested, simplifying the operation process.
3. Positioning measurement point: Place the thickness gauge probe perpendicular to the measured surface, maintain an appropriate distance (usually non-contact measurement, but ensure that the magnetic field can effectively penetrate), and slowly move the probe to find the optimal measurement position. Be careful to avoid air gaps or debris interference between the probe and the surface being measured.
4. Start measurement: Press the measurement button, the device will automatically emit electromagnetic waves and receive reflected signals, and calculate the thickness value of the measured material through the built-in algorithm. Some devices also have real-time display and data storage functions, making it convenient for users to view and record measurement results at any time.
5. Repeated measurement and verification: In order to improve the accuracy and reliability of the measurement, it is recommended to conduct multiple measurements at the same location and take the average as the final result. Meanwhile, it can be compared and validated with other measurement methods such as calipers, ultrasonic thickness gauges, etc.
4、 Precautions
1. Avoid magnetic field interference: During the measurement process, stay away from strong magnetic field sources (such as large motors, transformers, etc.) to avoid affecting the accuracy of the measurement results.
2. Regular calibration and maintenance: Regular calibration and maintenance of thickness gauges are key to ensuring their long-term stability and accuracy. It is recommended to perform regular calibration and maintenance work according to the requirements of the equipment manual.
3. Safety protection: When operating in high temperature environments, personal protective measures should be taken to avoid accidents such as burns. At the same time, it should be ensured that the protection level of the equipment meets the requirements of the on-site environment.
