The sub nanosecond laser achieves accurate processing and measurement through high peak power and short pulse width
Date: 2025-08-04Read: 1
A sub nanosecond laser is a laser with pulse duration in the nanosecond range, mainly used in high-precision ranging, material processing, laser radar and other fields.
A sub nanosecond laser refers to a laser with a pulse duration in the nanosecond range. One nanosecond is equal to 10 ^ -9 seconds (1 ns=10 ^ -9 s). The pulse duration of sub nanosecond lasers is relatively long, generally ranging from a few nanoseconds to tens of nanoseconds. Sub nanosecond lasers are commonly used in fields such as material processing, material surface modification, and medical research. The sub nanosecond laser adopts an all fiber optical scheme design, with high power, high repetition rate, high precision, sub nanosecond pulses, and near diffraction beam quality. It has broad application prospects in precision microfabrication fields such as semiconductors, photovoltaics, and new energy.
The core principle of sub nanosecond lasers is based on the synergistic effect of particle number inversion, stimulated radiation amplification, and pulse compression technology, which achieves sub nanosecond pulse output by accurately controlling energy release.
A sub nanosecond laser refers to a laser with a pulse width of less than 1 nanosecond (10 ⁻⁹ seconds) and typically ranging from picoseconds (10 ⁻¹² seconds) to several hundred femtoseconds (10 ⁻¹⁵ seconds). Its characteristics include:
High peak power: Short pulse width releases energy in a very short period of time, achieving material removal.
High precision machining: The thermal damage zone is very small, suitable for micro nano level cutting, engraving, and drilling.
Multi wavelength output: Through frequency doubling technology, wavelengths such as 1064nm, 532nm, 355nm can be output to meet different material requirements.
High repetition rate: Some models can achieve a repetition rate of several hundred kHz, improving processing efficiency.
Technical Principle
Particle number reversal: By exciting the gain medium with a pump source (such as a laser diode), the number of high-energy particles exceeds that of low-energy particles.
Stimulated radiation amplification: Particles are induced to transition by external photons, emitting photons of the same frequency, phase, and polarization, which are reflected and amplified by a resonant cavity to form laser.
Pulse compression technology: using electro-optic modulators or acousto-optic modulators to compress pulse widths to sub nanosecond levels, increasing peak power.
