Practical Manual for Diesel Vehicle Exhaust Road Inspection Instruments: Equipment Calibration, Data Collection, and Fault Handling Techniques
Date: 2025-09-26Read: 1
Diesel vehicle exhaust road inspection instruments are tools in modern environmental monitoring, which can monitor exhaust emissions in real time during vehicle operation and provide important data support for environmental protection. This article will provide a detailed introduction to the equipment calibration, data collection, and troubleshooting techniques of diesel vehicle exhaust road inspection instruments, helping operators better use and maintain this important equipment.
1、 Equipment calibration: ensuring measurement accuracy
(1) Preparation before calibration
Check equipment status: Before calibration, it is necessary to inspect the appearance and internal components of the exhaust gas inspection instrument to ensure that the equipment is in good condition. Check if the air circuit connection is secure, if the sensor is clean, and if the power supply is stable.
Prepare calibration gas: The calibration gas should be selected from standard gases that are similar in composition to diesel exhaust to ensure the accuracy of calibration. The calibration gas should have a known concentration and be within its validity period.
Preheating equipment: Turn on the exhaust gas inspection instrument and let the equipment preheat for at least 30 minutes to ensure that all components of the equipment reach a stable state.
(2) Calibration steps
Zero point calibration: Introduce zero point calibration gas (usually high-purity nitrogen) into the instrument, adjust the instrument's zero point, and display the reading as zero. Zero point calibration is the fundamental step in ensuring measurement accuracy.
Range calibration: Introduce the range calibration gas (a standard gas of known concentration) into the instrument, adjust the range of the instrument, and make the reading consistent with the concentration of the standard gas. Range calibration ensures that the instrument has accurate linear response within the measurement range.
Multi point calibration: To further improve the accuracy of calibration, multiple known concentrations of standard gases can be used for multi-point calibration. Through multi-point calibration, a calibration curve can be drawn to ensure the accuracy of the instrument throughout the entire measurement range.
Calibration verification: After completing the calibration, use a standard gas of known concentration for verification to ensure the accuracy of the calibration results. If the verification result deviates significantly from the concentration of the standard gas, recalibration is required.
2、 Data collection: ensuring the integrity and accuracy of data
(1) Preparation before data collection
Check device connection: Ensure that the exhaust gas inspection instrument is properly connected to the data acquisition device (such as a computer or mobile device). Check if the communication cable is loose and if the communication port is damaged.
Set collection parameters: According to the detection requirements, set the parameters for data collection, such as sampling frequency, sampling time, etc. Ensure that the collected parameters meet the detection requirements.
Check vehicle information: Before conducting exhaust testing, record the basic information of the vehicle, such as license plate number, vehicle model, engine model, etc. These information will be stored together with the detection data for subsequent analysis.
(2) Data collection steps
Start data collection: Turn on the exhaust gas inspection instrument and data collection equipment, and start the data collection program. Ensure that the data collection equipment can receive and record exhaust gas detection data in real time.
Vehicle passing through the detection area: Guide the vehicle through the detection area to ensure that it passes at a stable speed. During the vehicle's passage, the exhaust road inspection instrument will collect real-time data on the concentration of pollutants in the exhaust.
Data storage and backup: The collected data should be stored in real-time in the data collection device and backed up regularly. Ensure the security and integrity of data for subsequent analysis and processing.
(3) Data Processing and Analysis
Preliminary data analysis: The collected data needs to undergo preliminary analysis to check its completeness and accuracy. By analyzing the data, it can be preliminarily determined whether the vehicle's exhaust emissions exceed the standard.
Detailed data analysis: For vehicles with excessive emissions, conduct detailed data analysis to determine the types and concentrations of pollutants that exceed the standard. The analysis results can provide scientific basis for environmental law enforcement.
Data report generation: Based on the analysis results, generate detailed detection reports. The report should include basic information of the vehicle, inspection data, analysis results, etc., for easy archiving and reference.

3、 Fault handling: Quickly locate and solve problems
(1) Abnormal measurement data
Sensor contamination: If there are abnormal fluctuations or deviations in the measured data, it may be due to contamination of the sensor surface. Check if the sensor is covered with dust, oil, or other impurities, and clean it if necessary.
Air leakage: Check if the air connection is secure and if there is any leakage. Leakage in the gas path may cause changes in the concentration of the measured gas, affecting the accuracy of the measurement results.
Calibration issue: If the measured data does not match the actual situation, it may be a calibration issue. Re calibrate to ensure accurate concentration of calibration gas and correct calibration steps.
(2) The device cannot start
Power issue: Check if the power connection of the device is normal and if the power switch is turned on. If the power indicator light is not on, it may be due to a loose power cord or a faulty power adapter.
Fuse blown: Check if the fuse of the equipment is blown. If the fuse is blown, it is necessary to replace it with a fuse of the same specification.
(3) Data transmission issues
Communication connection: If the device is unable to transmit data to the data collection device, check if the communication connection is working properly. Check if the communication cable is loose and if the communication port is damaged.
Software issue: Check if the data collection software is running properly and if there are any software conflicts or version incompatibility issues. If necessary, reinstall or update the data collection software.
(4) Equipment alarm
Check alarm information: When the device alarms, specific alarm information will be displayed. Check the corresponding components or parameters based on the alarm information.
Check the air circuit pressure: If the alarm message indicates abnormal air circuit pressure, check whether the air circuit pressure is normal and whether there is any leakage.
Check temperature: If the alarm message indicates abnormal temperature, check whether the heating components of the equipment are working properly and whether the cooling system is unobstructed.
4、 Summary
The correct use and maintenance of diesel exhaust road inspection instruments are crucial for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of exhaust detection. By mastering equipment calibration, data collection, and troubleshooting skills, operators can effectively improve the measurement accuracy and reliability of equipment. Regular equipment maintenance and calibration, timely handling of malfunctions, can ensure that exhaust gas inspection instruments are always in good working condition, providing strong support for environmental protection.
