What should be paid attention to when using medical centrifuges?
Date: 2025-07-30Read: 0
Medical centrifugeThe core function of is to separate different components in the mixture according to density differences through centrifugal force generated by high-speed rotation.
Main parameters:
1. Rotational speed: Expressed in revolutions per minute (rpm), it is one of the key factors determining the magnitude of centrifugal force. Different experiments and samples require different rotational speeds to achieve good separation effects.
2. Relative centrifugal force (RCF): also known as the multiple of gravitational acceleration, used to measure the separation ability of a centrifuge. Its magnitude is not only related to the rotational speed, but also to the radius of the rotor, usually expressed in "× g".
3. Capacity: refers to the volume or quantity of samples that a centrifuge can accommodate, such as the maximum number of centrifuge tubes that can be centrifuged simultaneously, the maximum sample volume that can be processed, etc.
4. Temperature control range: For cryogenic centrifuges, temperature control range is an important parameter that can generally be adjusted between -20 ℃ and 40 ℃, with an accuracy of ± 1 ℃.
  Medical centrifugePrecautions for use:
1. Sample balancing:
Place the sample to be centrifuged symmetrically in the rotor to ensure load balance. A balance can be used for weighing, so that the weight difference between the relative centrifuge tubes does not exceed the specified range (such as ± 0.1g).
Avoid unbalanced operation, prevent rotor damage or centrifuge vibration.
2. Rotor installation:
Check if the rotor is securely installed and if the locking nut of the rotating disc is tightened to prevent it from falling off during operation.
Regularly inspect the rotor for corrosion, cracks, and other damages, and replace it promptly if necessary.
3. Operating standards:
When the centrifuge is running, it is strictly prohibited to open the lid or touch the rotor to prevent accidents.
The set speed should not exceed the maximum allowable speed of the rotor to avoid rotor rupture.
4. Maintenance and upkeep:
Clean the centrifuge chamber and rotor after use to prevent sample residue from corroding the equipment.
Regularly calibrate the speed and temperature to ensure stable performance of the centrifuge.
