Daily operation specifications for cryogenic centrifuge
Date: 2025-09-11Read: 0
refrigerated centrifugeIt is a precision instrument commonly used in laboratories for separating substances of different densities in low-temperature environments. To ensure the safe operation of the equipment, extend its service life, and ensure experimental accuracy, the following daily operating procedures must be strictly followed:
1、 Preparation before operation
1. Environmental inspection
-Ensure that the equipment is placed on a level and stable tabletop, avoiding vibration or tilting.
-Leave at least 15cm of heat dissipation space around, away from heat sources, direct sunlight, and corrosive gases.
-Check if the power supply voltage matches (usually 220V ± 10%), and ensure that the grounding wire connection is reliable.
2. Sample preparation
-The sample needs to be balanced: symmetrically place the centrifuge tube in the rotor, with a mass difference of no more than 0.1g (precision experiments require stricter standards).
-Centrifugal tube selection: Use a material that matches the rotor (such as polypropylene PP tube) and avoid using glass tubes (which are fragile at low temperatures).
-Liquid volume control: not exceeding 2/3 of the centrifuge tube capacity to prevent overflow during high-speed rotation.
3. Equipment inspection
-Check the rotor for cracks, corrosion, or deformation, and conduct regular non-destructive testing (such as ultrasonic testing).
-Confirm that the door lock, safety cover, and emergency brake button are functioning properly.
-Check the refrigeration system: Pre cool to the set temperature (usually 4 ℃ or -20 ℃) to avoid frequent start stop of the compressor.
2、 Operation steps
1. Startup and parameter settings
-Connect the power and wait for the device self-test to complete (displaying normal temperature and speed).
-Set parameters:
-Temperature: Set according to experimental requirements (such as 4 ℃, -20 ℃, or -80 ℃).
-Rotational speed/centrifugal force (RCF): Choose according to the rotor model and sample properties to avoid overspeed operation.
-Time: Set centrifugation time and reserve acceleration/deceleration time (some models can automatically calculate).
-Acceleration/deceleration curve: Choose the appropriate mode (such as slow rise and slow fall to protect fragile samples).
2. Loading samples
-Open the centrifuge door, symmetrically place the balanced centrifuge tube into the rotor hole, and gently press to ensure it is securely clamped.
-Close the door lock and confirm that the safety cover is closed (some models require double locking).
3. Start centrifugation
-Press the "Start" button and observe whether the display screen is running normally (speed, temperature, time).
-Do not open the door or interrupt the power supply during operation. In emergency situations, press "Emergency Stop".
3、 Precautions during operation
1. Exception handling
-If you hear abnormal noise, smell burnt smell, or display abnormalities, immediately stop the machine and contact maintenance.
-If the sample overflows, clean the rotor and cavity after shutdown to avoid corrosion.
2. Temperature monitoring
-Regularly check the refrigeration efficiency. If the temperature fluctuates greatly, it may be due to refrigerant leakage or compressor failure.
3. Prohibited operations
-No no-load operation is allowed (which may damage the rotor).
-Do not operate at excessive speed, temperature or overload.
-Do not move or collide with equipment during the centrifugation process.
4refrigerated centrifugeShutdown and subsequent processing
1. Natural shutdown
-After centrifugation is completed, open the door lock when the speed drops to 0 (some models require manual unlocking).
-When taking out the sample, move gently to avoid vibration of the rotor.
2. Cleaning and maintenance
-Wipe the cavity and rotor with a soft cloth, avoiding the use of corrosive cleaning agents.
-Regularly clean the condenser dust (once a month) to maintain heat dissipation efficiency.
-The rotor should be stored dry after use to prevent rusting.
3. Data recording
-Record operating parameters (temperature, speed, time) and abnormal situations for easy problem tracing.

5、 Safety regulations
1. Personal protection
-Wear lab coats, gloves, and goggles during operation to prevent samples from splashing out.
-When the centrifuge tube ruptures, immediately shut down and clean it to avoid contact with biological or chemical hazardous substances.
2. Emergency response
-Develop emergency plans for fires, electrical leaks, sample leaks, etc., and equip them with fire extinguishers and first aid kits.
-Regularly conduct safety training to ensure that operators are familiar with the process.
6、 Maintenance and upkeep
1. Daily maintenance
-Check the door seal for integrity every week to prevent air conditioning leakage.
-Monthly calibration of temperature sensors and tachometers (requires professional operation).
2. Long term storage
-When not in use for a long time, empty the rotor, keep the chamber dry, and cover it with a dust cover.
-Regularly power on (once a month) to prevent components from getting damp.
3. Professional maintenance
-Every year, the manufacturer or authorized engineer conducts comprehensive maintenance and replaces vulnerable parts (such as bearings and seals).
7、 Common Problems and Solutions

problem

Possible reasons

Solution

Unable to cool

Refrigerant leakage, compressor failure

Contact maintenance and check the refrigeration system

Unstable rotational speed

Unbalanced rotor, motor malfunction

Rebalance the sample and check the motor

Excessive noise

refrigerated centrifugeThe safe operation should be combined with standardized procedures, regular maintenance, and emergency plans. Operators should undergo professional training, strictly adhere to parameter limitations, and record the operating status of the equipment to ensure the reliability of experimental results and the longevity of the equipment.
