Utilizing Raman spectroscopy andLIBSTechnical analysis of gemstone characteristics

Prologue

We analyzed garnet samples from multiple origins and found significant differences among them. Why do samples from Pakistan have lower absorption in near-infrared compared to other samples? Why do the samples from Brazil appear dark red while the other two look more like amber? What caused the slight differences in Raman spectra among the three? For this purpose, we measured the Raman spectra of garnet and utilizedLIBSAnalyze the atomic structure differences between different garnets.
