The following are the usage details of the microfluidic reactor:
1、 Preparation before use
1. Equipment inspection
-Carefully inspect the appearance of the microfluidic reactor to ensure that there are no obvious damages, such as no cracks in the reactor body and transparent transparent transparent windows without damage. At the same time, check whether each connecting part is tight, including the connection between the feed pipe, discharge pipe and reaction kettle, as well as the connection between the stirring device (if any) and the motor, to prevent leakage during the reaction process.
-Check the light source system to ensure that the light bulb is functioning properly and that the lampshade is clean and securely installed. For reactions that require specific wavelength light sources, it is important to ensure that the filter (if any) is installed correctly and that the optical components such as lenses, mirrors, etc. are clean and free of stains to ensure that the light source can accurately illuminate the reaction area.
2. Cleaning work
-The interior of the reactor needs to be kept clean and rinsed with a suitable solvent before use to remove any residual impurities. For other components that come into contact with the material, such as stirring blades, temperature sensors, etc., they should also be wiped or cleaned to avoid impurities interfering with the reaction.
-When cleaning transparent windows, use soft fabrics and suitable cleaning agents to avoid scratching the surface of the window. Because scratches on the surface of the window can affect the transmittance of light, thereby affecting the efficiency of photochemical reactions.
3. Material preparation
-Accurately weigh or measure the reactants according to the reaction requirements. For liquid reactants, attention should be paid to their purity and concentration, and they should be added to the reaction vessel in the correct order. For example, in some photocatalytic reactions, the solvent is first added, followed by the catalyst, and finally the reaction substrate is added to ensure the uniformity and accuracy of the reaction.
-If it is a solid reactant, it should be ground to the appropriate particle size to increase the specific surface area of the reactant and improve the reaction rate. At the same time, the dispersibility of solid reactants in the reaction vessel should be considered to avoid clumping.
2、 Usage process
1. Install the reaction vessel
-Install the reaction vessel correctly on the bracket of the microfluidic reactor, ensuring accurate positioning of the vessel and allowing the light source to vertically illuminate the reaction area. Adjust the height and angle of the reaction vessel to ensure that the distance between the transparent window and the light source is appropriate. Generally, the optimal distance should be determined based on the size of the reaction vessel and the type of light source to ensure that light can pass through the reaction vessel uniformly.
2. Set reaction parameters
-Set parameters such as temperature and stirring speed according to the reaction requirements. For temperature control, it is necessary to first set the target temperature and heating rate. For example, in some temperature sensitive photochemical reactions, a rapid heating rate may lead to the occurrence of side reactions, so it is necessary to slowly raise the temperature to the set temperature. The setting of stirring speed is also crucial, as an appropriate stirring speed can ensure thorough mixing of reactants and improve reaction efficiency.
-For reactions involving gas participation or generation, it is necessary to ensure smooth gas inlet and outlet. If the reaction requires the introduction of inert gas (such as nitrogen) to eliminate air or as a protective gas, the flow rate of the gas should be adjusted properly.
3. Turn on the light source and record data
-After confirming that all parameter settings are correct, turn on the light source. Some optical fluid reactors may have different intensities of light sources to choose from, which need to be adjusted according to the needs of the reaction. At the same time, it is necessary to start recording reaction data, including reaction time, temperature changes, pressure changes (if any), etc. You can use software connected to a computer to record and monitor this data in real time for subsequent analysis.
3、 Post use maintenance
1. Clean the reaction kettle
-After the reaction is completed, the reaction kettle should be cleaned in a timely manner. Pour out the reacted mixture and rinse the inside of the reaction vessel with an appropriate solvent to remove any remaining reactants and products. For dirt that is difficult to clean, methods such as ultrasonic cleaning can be used.
2. Check the equipment
-Conduct a comprehensive inspection of the optical fluid reactor, including the light source system, stirring device, temperature sensor, etc. Check if the light source bulb needs to be replaced, if the stirring blade is damaged, and if the temperature sensor is still accurate. At the same time, the sealing of the equipment should be checked. If any aging or damaged seals are found, they should be replaced in a timely manner.
